United State government shut down on Trump’s first anniversary

The United States government officially shut down for the first time since 2013 over division in a dispute on immigration and border security.

Senators on Friday failed to reach an agreement on a short-term spending bill through Feb. 16.
The bill needed 60 votes in the 100-member Senate but fell short with only 50 democrats supporting it before its deadline.
The shutdown formally began on Saturday, the first anniversary of President Donald Trump’s inauguration after huddled negotiations by Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer in the last minutes before midnight were unsuccessful
The dispute over the shutdown is expected to continue over the weekend as Democrats seek a deal over immigration reform, the major area of disagreement over the bill.
Trump’s administration in reaction blamed democrats for shutdown saying it would not discuss immigration until the government is up and running.
“The shutdown might be inevitable as Democrats want illegal immigration and weak borders
“Tonight, they put politics above our national security, military families, vulnerable children, and our country’s ability to serve all Americans.
“When Democrats start paying our armed forces and first res ponder, we will reopen negotiations on immigration reform,” the White House said in a statement.
